The first annual Mathews Market Days was held in recognition of the bi-centennial celebration of the United States. Because Mathews is off the beaten path, our citizens felt this festival would be a great way to allow local crafts people to display and sell their wares. Market Days is held each year on the Friday and Saturday following Labor Day, on the village green in the Historic Courthouse area of Mathews. Plan to join us for the 41st Annual Mathews Market Days Festival held on the historic Court Green in Mathews County, Virginia. The annual two - day event, attracting more than 12,000 visitors, offers delicious food, live music and the charming rural atmosphere of The Green, where festival - goers stroll among more than 50 booths displaying the work of award - winning artists and local craftsmen.
