Craft Shows, Fairs, and Festivals in New Hampshire | March 2009 |
In New Hampshire, vendor events are many and varied, and among them are some New Hampshire fairs and festivals, such as the International Children’s Festival in Somersworth, the North Country Mud Run and Smoke Show at Colebrook, and the Americana Festival at Portsmouth.
Among the highest ranked agricultural fairs is the Hopkinton State Fair, located west of Concord. With various livestock attractions, competitions, museums, a midway with rides, and even an area dubbed Kiddieland for younger visitors, the Hopkinton State Fair has something for everyone. There is even a bingo hall and a home arts center.
Other New Hampshire vendor events that might interest artisans in particular are the many New Hampshire craft shows. Foremost among these is the Annual League of New Hampshire Craftsmen’s Fair, billed as the oldest craft fair in America. Beginning on the first Saturday of each August, this annual craftsmen’s fair features more than two hundred individual craft booths, featuring prints, jewelry, furniture, wood accessories, metalwork, decorative glass, fiber arts, pottery, and more.
There is also a Living with Craft exhibition, Sculpture in the Garden, and performing arts shows. Other New Hampshire craft shows include the Weirs Summer Arts and Crafts Fair, the Memorial Weekend Arts and Crafts Show at North Conway, and the Innovative Beads Expo at Concord.
