Description of Event:
Held on the second Friday and Saturday of October, the Turkey Trot was conceived as a way to call attention to the region's abundant wild turkeys. It has become a time for homecomings, reunions, and traditions for many tourists, classmates, friends and family members. Turkey Trot is held on the square in Yellville and has many things to offer for people of all ages. The craft vendors feature quilts, paintings, carvings, and homemade jams and jellies. You can find all kinds of shirts, hats and bags to take home as souvenirs, including official Turkey Trot t-shirts and buttons. Turkey Trot events include the famous National Wild Turkey Calling Contest; one of the largest parades in Northwest Arkansas; a 5K Walk/Run; the Miss Turkey Trot pageant; and the Miss Drumsticks pageant, in which the winners are chosen while their faces and upper bodies are hidden.Information:
